The renewal decision doesn’t come as a surprise, especially since Jersey Shore Family Vacation became MTV’s highest-rated program since it premiered in April. The first episode of the first season had 2.41 million viewers while 1.64 million people tuned in for the finale. It is also one of the highest rated unscripted shows on cable television.

Jersey Shore Family Vacation serves as a spinoff of Jersey Shore, which stands as one of the most popular reality series of all time, and followed seven cast members of the original: Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,  Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

The first season, which had 14 episodes and ran from April through June 2018, saw the gang enjoying a vacation in Miami Beach. The second season, which premiered in August and is scheduled to have 17 episodes, has the housemates visiting Las Vegas and Atlantic City before settling down on Jersey Shore.

MTV’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation will return for a second season. The news was announced Wednesday on Jersey Shore’s official Twitter account.

A short video of the gang looking extra excited was shared and captioned with “Looks like you’re stuck with us #JSFamilyVacation has been renewed for SECOND season!”

The entire cast couldn’t contain the excited, collectively taking to social media to share the news with their fans.

Deena Nicole Cortese’s Instagram followers received the following message,”It’s official!! Season two Jersey Shore Family Vacation is happening!!!!!!  #jsfamilyvacation #jerseyshore #jerzday #jerzdays,” while Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino wrote to his followers, “COMING IN HOT WE HAVE A SITUATION!! SEASON 2 JERSEY SHORE HAS BEEN GREEN LIT and WE DIDN’T EVEN AIR SEASON 1 YET!! #jsfamilyvacation”.

Pauly D DelVecchio tweeted “ANNOUNCEMENT ALERT Wow, We Didn’t Even Air Yet And We Got Season 2!!!! #Thanks To All Of U!! #JSFamilyVacation #PaulyDPositivity”. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro shared a group snap on Instagram cruising in a convertible, which he captioned, “NEW HUGE JERSEY SHORE ANNOUNCEMENT ALERT TODAY,” followed by a long list of hashtags.

The first season was shot in Miami and will debut on April 5.
