Rhythm & Flow is the brainchild of John Legend and his partners at Get Lifted Film Co. Netflix ordered 10 hour-long episodes of this talent search, which is set to premiere in fall 2019. Auditions will be held this fall across the US, with the established rappers from each city serving as guest judges.

Rhythm & Flow isn’t Netflix’s first foray into the world of reality television. They found success in this arena with Nailed It! and Queer Eye, but this will be their first attempt to make a talent competition shows, with big stars on board.

NBC announced that Legend will join The Voice as a new coach for season 16, replacing Jennifer Hudson, who is leaving the show after season 15.

“John Legend is a one-of-a-kind musician and producer with remarkable skills that are beyond measure,” said Paul Telegdy, president of the alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment, in a statement. “His multi-dimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16.”

John Legend will take his seat in the spinning red chair row alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. Season 16 is set to kick off in the spring of 2019.

“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice,” said Legend in a statement. “I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times, and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”

John Legend joining the show is just a continuation of great news for The Voice fans. NBC recently announced that the upcoming season will feature a companion series titled The Comeback Stage. This series, hosted by singer Kelsea Ballerini, will see six candidates who didn’t make it through past the Blind Auditions, receiving a chance to fight for their spot in the playoffs once again. “It’s hard though because she’s definitely jealous of John and I,” she continued, adding that she’s “protective” of her daddy. “She’s so protective of John, and when we kiss, she like, looks [up] from no matter where she is.”

As for Legend, he shared that he’s most excited to have a “little Johnny” in their family. “It’s always exciting because you never know what they’re going to be like,” the singer-songwriter told ET in April. “You’re just excited that another product of your relationship and your love is going to be out there in front of you.”

“We’re just excited to see how we’re going to be as parents of two, and how Luna is going to be as a big sister,” he said. “It’s going to be really exciting and fun.”

But Legend doesn’t mind what will be the characteristic of their next child. “I’m very much in love with my wife and my daughter so if the next baby has any of their characteristics I’ll be very happy,” he admitted.

The couple is already parents to 1-year-old Luna. Last November, the former Sports Illustrated model revealed that they’re expecting a second child.
