Multiple outlets report that Jude Law and Take Waititi have boarded the project, reported to be a Hollywood satire based on the One Press graphic novel series by Rick Spears and James Callahan. 

Per Deadline, Law will play the title character, while Waititi is attached to direct. Taika will also co-write the show with Peter Warren. Eric Gitter and Dan Halsted will executive produce.

The show is still in development and it is unknown when the show will go into production.

The forthcoming sequel to The Young Pope has tapped Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson to guest star. 

The news was announced Friday by HBO via its official social media channels.

The upcoming Paolo Sorrentino-helmed series is a sequel to 2016 series starring Jude Law as the leader of the Catholic Church. While not much is known about the plot or the characters, from the first-look images released by the premium cabler, it seems that Manson will portray a character similar to public persona. 

Back in January, HBO released a first-look image of John Malkovich and Law, both in similar papal vestments so it’s fair to assume that the series will feature two popes, much like the recent real-life situation that resulted in there being two living popes for the first time in centuries.

Other returning cast members include Cecile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, and Silvio Orlando.

While principal filming is finished, a premiere date has yet to be scheduled.

Warner Bros. has announced that the threequel starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law has been moved back a whole year. The originally set to hit theaters Christmas Day 2020 feature now has a December 21, 2021 release date.

According to Variety, the now vacant slot is going to an untitled WB event film. 

Sherlock Holmes 3 follows 2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The franchise debuted with Sherlock Holmes in 2009. The two films, which had a production budget of $215 million, hauled a combined $1 billion at the global box office, which has proved the franchise to be hugely popular.

Downey and Law are set to reprise their roles as the titular detective and his sidekick, Dr. Watson, respectively. Chris Brancato penned the script. Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are producing. No director has been attached to the project.

Malkovich will star in the follow up to Paolo Sorrentino’s series opposite Jude Law who starred as Lenny Belardo, who took the name Pius XIII as he became the first American pope in history. Law received a Golden Globe nomination for his work on the show.

The script for The New Pope is being penned by Sorrentino, Umberto Contarello, and Stefano Bises, all of whom worked on The Young Pope. It is produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani for Wildside and co-produced by Mediapro. 

Production is scheduled to begin in Italy in November.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of EON Productions in London, along with Global Road Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures confirmed the news with a statement released Monday, “Hiatus on the production of The Rhythm Section has been extended due to the hand injury Blake Lively sustained while filming an action sequence on the action thriller at the end of last year.”

The 30-year-old actress suffered a stunt-related hand injury in December when filming in Dublin, Ireland. That was production’s first set back as everything was put on hold temporarily. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lively’s initial hand surgery did not go as planned, and the actress is in need of a second surgical intervention followed by ample recovery time.

Also starring Jude Law, the film features Lively as Stephanie Patrick, who is seeking revenge against those who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family.

With a rumored production budget of $50 million, it is unknown when and if production will resume and that will affect the film’s scheduled release date.
