“As we ring in a new decade and my 15th year hosting the show, I’m so excited to welcome the talented Lucy Hale to the stage with me,” Seacrest said Tuesday in a statement. “It’s going to be a powerhouse year with Billy and Ciara and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone!

Hale previously hosted the New Orleans portion of the show. Taking over hosting duties there is first time host Billy Porter, while Ciara will return to host the Los Angeles festivities for the third year. 

This is Seacrest’s 15th year on the job.

Son of the South is based on Zellner’s 2008 memoir called The Wrong Side of Murder Creek: A White Southerner in the Freedom Movement. Till will play the lead character – Alabama native and grandson of a Ku Klux Klan member, who becomes a civil rights activist during the ‘60s.

Lucy Hale will portray Carol Anne, Zellner’s college girlfriend. The rest of the cast features the likes of Lex Scott Davis, Julia Ormond, Cedric the Entertainer, and Sharonne Lanie.

Son of the South will be directed by Spike Lee’s longtime editor Barry Alexander Brown, who was also in charge of writing a screenplay. This isn’t Brown’s first foray into directing – he actually made his directorial debut all the way back in 1990, with comedy Lonely in America.

The Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale has been cast as the lead of Katy Keene.

The spinoff follows the lives of four iconic Archie Comics characters — fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Hale) and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) — as they chase their dreams in New York City. The musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.

Keene is described as an aspiring fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.

The spinoff hails from Riverdale creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also penned the script along with Michael Grassi. Maggie Kiley will direct the pilot.
