]]>The news of Perry’s death took the world by storm after he suffered an apparent drowning in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28. His family released an official statement saying they’re heartbroken by this tragic loss and thanked his fans for “the tremendous outpouring of love” following the news of his passing.
Perry was just 10 when he landed his first role, but he became a household name thanks to the hit sitcom Friends. He was part of the show’s leading ensemble, which also included Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow.
The show’s official media accounts released a statement following his death, which reads, “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”
In addition to starring in Friends, Perry also led TV shows Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Odd Couple, scored two additional Emmy nods for guest starring on The West Wing, and appeared in such films as The Whole Nine Yards, 17 Again, and The Ron Clark Story.

]]>Multiple outlets confirm that 15 years after the hit sitcom aired its series finale, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer have signed on to take part in a taped unscripted reunion special for HBO Max.
But don’t get too excited — the reunion isn’t a reboot or a revival, but an opportunity for the six friends to get back together and talk about their show.
“Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max in a statement. “I became aware of Friend’ when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends — and audiences — gathered together in real-time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”
Ben Winston will direct the special. He will also executive produce alongside Friends exec producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane.
Friends ran for 10 seasons from 1994-2004 on NBC. All ten seasons of the sitcom left Netflix at the end of 2019 and will be available to stream again once HBO Max launches in May.
