The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards were held on September 12 in Newark, New Jersey, with Nicki Minaj returning to host the show for the second year in a row.

]]>The Colombian singer will make history as the first South American artist to be honored with the Video Vanguard Award, and she has some big shoes to fill! The list of most recent recipients of this honorary award includes Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez.
The Video Vanguard Award is meant to honor artists who had a profound impact on the music industry. Shakira fits this description perfectly, according to Bruce Gillmer, president of music, music talent, programming & events at Paramount.
“She’s a trailblazer for women around the world & one of the first artists to lead the globalization of Latin music. Her massive impact across the musical landscape will be long-lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level,” said Gillmer in a statement.
The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on September 12. Taylor Swift topped the list of nominees with eight nods, followed by SZA, Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith.

]]>Landing the opening number slot is a huge honor for Cardi B, but it’s definitely well-deserved. She received nominations in 10 different categories, beating out the likes of Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Drake. Most notably, she’s in the running for Artist of the Year and Best New Artist, but we’ll have to wait until August 20 to see if any of these awards end up in her hands.
The list of performers during the main show also includes Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Post Malone and Travis Scott. Nicki Minaj will deliver a special performance from a surprise remote location in New York City. Backstreet Boys are among artists slated for the VMAs red carpet pre-show outside of the Radio City Music Hall.
Cardi’s fans were super-excited to hear she’ll be able to make an appearance during this awards ceremony. She recently pulled out of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour to focus on her newborn. The rapper admitted she had a hard time making this decision, but ultimately realized it’s the best thing to do.
“I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing. Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road.” wrote Cardi B a few weeks ago.

This will be the singer’s 6th studio album. Lovato’s recent interview with ET was full of scoops, one of which were that her exciting new project will not only include a full-length album, but also a tour and documentary titled Simply Complicated.
Fans have already gotten a taster of her R&B sounding album with the release of her single, “Sorry Not Sorry,” which she is set to sing this weekend at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. The singer said that this time around, her music will be more soulful and colorful, admitting that “there is one song on the new LP that she’s nervous for fans to hear.”

]]>The post Katy Perry Releases Music Video of “Swish Swish” Ahead of Taylor Swift’s New Single appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>This move comes after Taylor Swift announced this week that she’ll be releasing a new song on Thursday night.
“Swish Swish” was believed to be a response to Taylor Swift’s 2014 “Bad Blood”, which is presumed to be about the pop star’s feud with Perry.
The music video features a jumbled and rambling but star-studded storyline in which Perry’s basketball team Tigers (comprised of Glee’s Jenna Ushkowitz, Stranger Things‘ Gaten Matarazzo, dancer Russell Horning, model Dexter Mayfield and comedian Christine Sydelko) faces off against the Sheep team (which includes Game of Thrones actor Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson). The team coaches are Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Terry Crews and Saturday Night Live alum Molly Shannon. Cheerleading squad includes Joey Chestnut, football player Rob Gronkowski, and cast members from Netflix’s GLOW – Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Kia Stevens, Jackie Tohn and Ellen Wong.
Perry is set to host the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday and there are rumors that Swift and Perry might have a special performance together but the awards show’s producer, Garrett English, confirmed that’s not happening.
“That’s not happening as far as [I know],” he told ET. “I’ve certainly seen all the rumors flying around, but that’s not happening.”

This song came out victorious in several more categories, including the song of the year, best pop, best direction, best visual effects, best editing, and best cinematography. Swift was also named the artist of the year, in addition to winning awards for show of the summer with The Eras Tour, and album of the year with Midnights.
It was also a huge night for Ice Spice, who defeated the likes of GloRilla and Peso Pluma to be named the best new artist. Karol G and Shakira won the award for best collaboration with “TQG”, while Blackpink was named the group of the year.

Some of these tracks are also in the running for song of the year, with two notable exceptions. Doja Cat’s “Attention” and Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” have been left out, with Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” and Rema and Selena Gomez’s viral hit “Calm Down” taking their spots.
