]]>Her agent John Grant announced the news today, saying that she died of “natural causes.”
“We are very sad to announce the untimely death, from natural causes, of the acclaimed actress Emma Chambers,” said Grant. “Over the years, Emma created a wealth of characters and an immense body of work. She brought laughter and joy to many, and will be greatly missed. At this difficult time we ask that the privacy of the family and loved ones be respected. Chambers was best known for her TV role portraying Alice Tinker in the BBC Comedy The Vicar of Dibley from 1994 to 2007 and the movie Notting Hill where she played Hugh Grant’s character’s quirky sister Honey.
Her Notting Hill co-star took to social media to mourn Chamber’s death writing, “Emma Chambers was a hilarious and very warm person and of course a brilliant actress. Very sad news.” James Dreyfus, who played Martin in Notting Hill, called Chambers “wonderful,” “talented,” and “unique,” writing, “RIP the wonderful and talented Emma Chambers. Unique,& unspeakably funny. Too young. Thoughts with her family. X
