The music video for her latest single “Obsessed” is here, and it shows her throwing a party for the ex-girlfriends of the guy she’s in love with.

“I’m so obsessed with your ex,” sings Rodrigo in the song’s chorus, and the “Obsessed” music video perfectly captures its lyrics. She rocks a black dress and a sash that reads “Miss Right Now” to attend a ballroom party with a pretty interesting guest list.

As the video progresses, we meet a group of debutantes, wearing delicate white gowns, who all seem to have one thing in common. They are wearing sashes with such cheeky titles as “Miss Thought She Was the One,” “Miss 2 Summers Ago”, and “Miss Mom’s Favorite”, hinting they’re all exes of Rodrigo’s love interest.

“Obsessed” was initially only available on vinyl editions of Guts, before Rodrigo decided to release it as the lead single of the deluxe edition Guts (Spilled). It hit the shelves on March 22, and also features songs “Scared of My Guitar”, “Stranger”, and “Girl I’ve Always Been”.

Guts was originally released in September last year, and it scored six Grammy nominations, including album of the year and song and record of the year for its lead single “Vampire”.

2024 Grammys Awards: Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, & Olivia Rodrigo Among Performers https://omgcheckitout.com/2024-grammys-awards-billie-eilish-dua-lipa-olivia-rodrigo-among-performers/ Wed, 17 Jan 2024 06:03:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=41155 We can always count on the Grammy Awards to bring some amazing performances our way, and this year’s ceremony will be no exception. The first batch of performers has officially been announced, and it includes Grammy winners Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Eilish already has seven Grammys under her belt, and she received an additional six nominations at this year’s ceremony. “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie earned her five nods alone, including song and record of the year.

The three-time Grammy winner Dua Lipa also owes her most recent two Grammy nods to the Barbie movie. She’s in the running for song of the year and best song written for visual media with her disco-inspired bop “Dance the Night”.

The fellow three-time Grammy winner Olivia Rodrigo is coming into this year’s Grammy Awards as one of the main contenders, with an impressive six nods. She scored nominations for album of the year with Guts, plus song and record of the year with its lead single “Vampire”.

The 2024 Grammy Awards are set to take place on February 4, and the rest of the performers will be announced in the coming weeks. SZA will enter the ceremony as the front-runner with nine nominations, followed by Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea with seven each.

Olivia Rodrigo Drops Music Video for “Can’t Catch Me Now” https://omgcheckitout.com/olivia-rodrigo-drops-music-video-for-cant-catch-me-now/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 06:38:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40602 The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is hitting theaters in just a few days, and its soundtrack will be just as epic as the film itself. Olivia Rodrigo recorded its second single “Can’t Catch Me Now” and the music video for this powerful song is finally here.

The music video for “Can’t Catch Me Now” opens with Rodrigo playing a guitar inside an isolated cabin in the woods before she steps outside and runs for her life. The video is interspersed with scenes from the film, which centers on the young Coriolanus Snow mentoring the young tribute Lucy Gray Baird for the 10th annual Hunger Games.

Rodrigo recently attended the film’s premiere in Los Angeles and said it was an honor to write this song, especially since it allowed her to flex her songwriting abilities.

“It was a really fun challenge for me as a songwriter because lots of my songs are kind of about my personal life… It was a wonderful experience to try to write something from the character of Lucy Gray. [She’s] a character that I feel very connected to,” said Rodrigo.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will officially hit the theaters on November 17, and it stars Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.

2023 MTV EMAs: Taylor Swift, SZA, & Olivia Rodrigo Among Top Contenders https://omgcheckitout.com/2023-mtv-emas-taylor-swift-sza-olivia-rodrigo-among-top-contenders/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 06:34:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40471 Each of MTV’s award shows is worth waiting for, and MTV Europe Music Awards are coming our way next month. The list of nominees for the MTV EMAs is finally in, with Taylor Swift, SZA, and Olivia Rodrigo leading the way.

After dominating this year’s MTV VMAs, Swift is coming into another award ceremony as the main contender. She’s in the running in seven different categories, including best song and best video with “Anti-Hero”, in addition to best artist, best pop, best live, biggest fans, and best US act.

Swift’s “Anti-Hero” will have to face some pretty tough competition in the best song categories, where Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”, Jung Kook’s “Seven” ft. Latto, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, SZA’s “Kill Bill”, and “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez also received nods.

Most of the same tracks are also in the running for the best video award, with the exceptions of Jung Kook’s “Seven” and “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez. “Gorilla” by Little Simz and “Bongos” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion took their spots in this category.

The 2023 MTV EMAs will return to the Paris Nord Villepinte in Paris, France on November 5, and the list of major contenders also includes Olivia Rodrigo and SZA with six nods and Doja Cat, Måneskin, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj with four each.

Olivia Rodrigo Makes a Splash on Billboard Charts With Sophmore Album “Guts” https://omgcheckitout.com/olivia-rodrigo-makes-a-splash-on-billboard-charts-with-sophmore-album-guts/ Wed, 20 Sep 2023 06:06:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40436 Olivia Rodrigo gave us one of the year’s most anticipated albums with Guts, and this week’s Billboard charts reflect its enormous success. Guts became her second album to debut at No. 1, and all of its 12 tracks made it to the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, led by its lead single “Vampire”.

With 302,000 equivalent album units earned during its first week on the Billboard 200, Guts easily soared to No. 1 in the United States. It’s Rodrigo’s second album to do so, and it even managed to outsell Sour by approximately 7,000 units during its first week on the chart.

Guts managed to sell 150,000 units in pure album sales, powered by its enormous success on vinyl, with 94,000 units sold. It also earned 151,000 SEA units, equaling to 199.59 million streams across the album’s 12 tracks.

Guts did just as great on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Vampire”, which debuted at no. 1 after being released as the lead single from this album back in June, returned to the top spot following the release of Guts on September 8.

To make the whole thing even more impressive, all 12 songs from Rodrigo’s sophomore album made it to the top 40 this week, including “Bad Idea Right?” at No. 7, “Get Him Back!” at No. 11, and “All-American B—h” at No. 13.

Olivia Rodrigo Unveils Tracklist of Her New Album “Guts” https://omgcheckitout.com/olivia-rodrigo-unveils-tracklist-of-her-new-album-guts/ Thu, 03 Aug 2023 06:11:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40342 There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming album Guts, and she found a way to get us even more excited about this record! The Grammy-winning singer unveiled the album’s tracklist featuring 12 songs ahead of its release on September 8.

Rodrigo started teasing the album’s tracklist with a mysterious video, featuring many tiny clues and Easter Eggs. Her fans managed to spot a few possible song titles in this video, such as “Bad Idea Right?” and “The Grudge”, but many others were hiding in plain sight.

Rodrigo didn’t keep us in suspense for too long, and she unveiled the full tracklist just a day later. In addition to the lead single “Vampire”, her new album will also feature such songs as “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl”, “Love Is Embarrassing”, and “Get Him Back!”.

Guts serves as a follow-up to Rodrigo’s acclaimed debut album Sour and she explained why she opted for this title during an appearance on Apple Music’s New Music Daily.

“I just think it’s an interesting word, and people use it in so many interesting contexts – spill your guts, hate your guts… It means bravery, but it also means listening to your intuition. I just think all of these things were coincidentally things that I’ve been thinking about in this chapter,” she told Zane Lowe.

Olivia Rodrigo Has a Bloody Good Time in Music Video for “Vampire” https://omgcheckitout.com/olivia-rodrigo-has-a-bloody-good-time-in-music-video-for-vampire/ Mon, 03 Jul 2023 06:05:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=40300 Olivia Rodrigo’s comeback single “Vampire” was a long time coming—and it was worth the wait! The singer had a bloody good time while writing this biting new song, and the music video perfectly captures the song’s dark themes without being too literal.

Fans expected Rodrigo to go full Twilight when she announced the name of her single, but she opted for a completely different approach. She worked closely with the director Petra Collins to develop a video that features vampire references, without being “too on the nose”.

The video opens with Rodrigo in an ethereal flower field, but it quickly turns out she’s actually performing at the awards show. After being hit by a falling light, she tries to keep singing while covered in blood but eventually ends up running into the night.

In an official statement on social media, Rodrigo said this song helped me sort through lots of feelings of regret, anger, and heartache and expressed hope it will help her fans deal with bloodsuckers in their life.

“Vampire” marks Rodrigo’s first single in almost two years and it was released as the lead single from Rodrigo’s upcoming album Guts. This album will hit the shelves on September 8, and it saw Rodrigo join forces with producer Dan Nigro, after working on her debut album Sour by each other’s side.

Olivia Rodrigo Tops the List of Winners at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards https://omgcheckitout.com/olivia-rodrigo-tops-the-list-of-winners-at-2022-billboard-music-awards/ Mon, 16 May 2022 06:20:00 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=39270 Another Billboard Music Awards ceremony is behind us and it gave top honors to one of the biggest breakout stars of the past year. Olivia Rodrigo topped the list of winners with a total of seven awards, followed by Drake with five.

Rodrigo was named the top new artist and top female artist, but she also managed to collect the awards for the top Hot 100 artist, top streaming songs artist, top radio songs artist, top Billboard 200 Global artist, and top Billboard 200 album with Sour.

She didn’t have such a great showing in the song categories, where she lost most of her nominations for “Good 4 U” to “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber including the top Hot 100 song, top streaming song, and top Billboard Global 200 song.

As for Drake, he managed to beat the likes of Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd to win the biggest award of the night—the top artist. He won five trophies this year, bringing his total to 34 awards and cementing his status as the most-awarded artist in BBMA history.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15 with Sean “Diddy” Combs serving as a host.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, aka Silk Sonic, owe their triumph at this award show to their smash-hit “Leave the Door Open”. This song won all four awards it was nominated for, including record and song of the year, best R&B performance, and best R&B song.

It was also a big night for Olivia Rodrigo, D’Mile, Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, and CeCe Winans, who walked away with three awards each. This year’s Grammy Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3 with Trevor Noah coming back to host for the second time.

Jon Batiste received more nominations than any other artist and walked away with five trophies, joined by Silk Sonic in second place with four awards.

Batiste came into the night with a total of 11 nominations, but just one of his wins came in the main field. He won the award for the album of the year with We Are, in addition to collecting two trophies in American Roots categories, winning the award for the best music video for “Freedom”, and best score soundtrack for Soul, shared with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
