The media giant’s streaming service Apple TV+ has given the green light to a series inspired by its marketing campaign. 

The new series titled Dear…, which hails from Emmy Award-winner RJ Cutler will see people read letters explaining how celebrities have changed their lives, and will thus illuminate the lives of the celebs themselves. 

According to the streamer, the series takes an “inventive and cinematic approach to biographies of the most iconic figures in society today by using letters written by those whose lives have been changed through their work.”

The docuseries will feature Oprah Winfrey, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stevie Wonder, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Yara Shahidi, Aly Raisman, Misty Copeland, Big Bird and more throughout its 10-episode first season. 

Dear… is set to debut sometime in the spring.

The music star will publish an intimate autobiography titled More Myself: A Journey which is described to be “part autobiography, and part narrative documentary.” The book is expected to hit shelves this fall through Oprah Winfrey’s publishing imprint. 

Keys posted a video Wednesday afternoon that confirmed the news.

“I couldn’t be more ecstatic to share this part of my journey so far and all the ways I am continuously learning to honor my truth,” Keys said in a statement. “Alongside my sister, mentor, and friend Oprah, this book is one of the most exciting chapters yet.”

Flatiron Books added: “The result is a 360-degree perspective on Alicia’s path — from her girlhood in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem, to her career as a 15-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and record producer, to the process of self-discovery she’s still navigating.”

“I could feel the power of Alicia’s presence even before she belted out the first soulful notes of the lyrics that made her famous — ‘I keep on fallin’ in and out of love with you,’” Winfrey added. “I knew she had all those sparkling qualities that make stars shine. The three have joined forces to adapt the hit book, turned hit movie, turned hit musical to the big screen. Deadline confirms that the feature will be based off the Tony-winning Broadway musical.

The 1982 Alice Walker novel about a black woman named Celie, who suffers abuse from her father, husband, and others over the course of four decades set in the American South, is heading back to the silver screen by Winfrey, Jones, and Scott Sanders, who produced the Broadway version. The three will now produce the big-screen musical with Spielberg as a producer.

Spielberg’s 1985 version starred Whoopi Goldberg as Celie. It earned 11 Oscar nominations, including a nom for Best Supporting Actress for Winfrey who made her acting debut. The original Broadway musical debuted in 2005 and scored 11 Tony Award nominations. 

The project is still looking for a writer.

Fans are about to get a lot more of Oprah now that she signed a multi-year deal with Apple for new original programs. This means that Oprah will create original content that includes film, TV, applications, books and any other content that can be distributed on Apple’s platform. 

“Together, Winfrey and Apple will create original programs that embrace her incomparable ability to connect with audiences around the world,” the company said in a statement. “Winfrey’s projects will be released as part of a lineup of original content from Apple.”

Apple’s deal with Oprah comes after it has made similar deals with Reese Witherspoon, Steven Spielberg, Octavia Spencer, and Kevin Durant as a part of a growing trend amongst streaming services to tap major talent for their original programming. Netflix has signed former President Barack and former First Lady Michelle Obama as well as Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy. 

The deal is non-exclusive and will not affect Oprah’s contract with OWN, the television network she debuted in 2011.

AMC theaters make the exciting announcement Friday, saying that it is partnering up with Color of Change and “Give a Child the Universe” initiative. By encouraging people to donate or buy tickets to the movie, they hope to allow underprivileged children to see the film at their local AMC location.

“Color of Change believes in the power of images and supports those working to change the rules in Hollywood so that inclusive, empathetic and human portrayals of Black people and people of color are prominent on the screen,” said Rashad Robinson, executive director of Color Of Change. “From Selma to now A Wrinkle In Time, Ava DuVernay has set out to change the rules in Hollywood for people of color and women. By casting a black teenage actress Storm Reid as the heroine at the center of this story, the filmmakers, and the studio send a powerful message to millions of young people who will see someone like them embracing their individuality and strength to save the world. We are pleased to partner with AMC to ensure that as many young people as possible, regardless of economic and financial hardships, can see this groundbreaking film.”

“The Wrinkle in Time story is one that children from all backgrounds and walks of life can identify with and draw inspiration from, and we are thrilled to celebrate this film in a meaningful way, through the vision of Ava DuVernay and in partnership with Color of Change,” said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president of special content at AMC to E! A Wrinkle In Time, adapted from Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 novel stars Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. The film premieres on March 9.

“Our generation realizes that age has never been a limit in terms of social activity and being able to look back at the civil rights movement… and see that it does not matter how old you are to get engaged,” Shahidi said on Oprah Winfrey Network special, Oprah at the Apollo. “If anything, it is so important to make it our mission, especially if you have the privilege to do so, to be socially aware and to help our global community.”

The 17-year-old actress also discussed her background, being born to an African-American and Choctaw mother and an Iranian-American father. She said that her family have shown her “how similar culture is at its core.”

“I think so many of the problems that arise today are by these arbitrary borders that we put up, these arbitrary distinctions we make between people. And so many of our issues, whether it is economic, whether it is discrimination that has been integrated into systems, centers from somebody deciding that a difference is worth making a political statement,” she said.

Shahidi said that Black-ish is part of a “”renaissance of black TV,” since it portrays black families in a realistic manner. “It’s about making sure that we are so intentional in the stories that we tell and that we aren’t trying to perpetuate stereotypes because that’s when stereotypes become reality,” she explained.

The spin-off series, Grown-ish, highlights her character, Zoey Johnson’s adventure in college. Since the show will produce 20 more episodes, she’s trying her best to figure out how she will balance her education and the show.

“Everybody from the writers to the production understands how much I value my education and we’re doing our best to figure out how we want to make it work, but I feel pretty lucky to be able to make a commitment to a school… and to a show,” she said. “I’m doing my best to figure it all out.”

“Your future is so bright it burns my eyes,” Oprah said, impressed by her intelligence and social awareness.

Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s book is a story of a girl’s adventures across the universe to save her father.

Meg Murry (Storm Reid), sets off with her younger brother, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), her friend Calvin O’Keele (Levi Miller), and space guides, Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), to track down her father, Dr. Alex Murry, who discovers a way to travel to a new planet but captured by the dark force.

This fantasy movie is different from DuVernay’s previous directorial work, which all focused on realistic stories about racial conflicts like 2014’s Selma or 2013’s 13th.

A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters on March 9, 2018.

The 63-year-old TV personality posted a photo on Instagram Thursday, showing off her network ID card as she prepares for her new project as special contributor on CBS’ 60 Minutes.

“It’s official. Got my CBS id card today. First story on the air this Sunday #60minutes,” Winfrey wrote.

She also shared photo of her team on Wednesday, preparing their first story. “Meeting in edit room with Team. #60minutes First story, this Sunday,” Winfrey captioned the pic.

When CBS executive producer Jeff Fager announced last February that Winfrey will be joining the long-running news magazine show, the media mogul released a statement at the time expressing her excitement.

“I’ve been a big admirer of 60 Minutes since my days as a young reporter,” Winfrey said. “I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling. At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”

60 Minutes will kick off its 50th anniversary season on Sunday, Sept. 24, with Winfrey’s story about America’s political divisions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Many of the names that made 60 Minutes great such as Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Ed Bradley, Don Hewitt, are gone now. But the show continues every Sunday at 7 p.m, with its investigations, news-making interviews, esoteric and entertaining features.
