]]>The seventh and final season of Orange Is the New Black will see star Taylor Schilling aka Piper Chapman readjust to life on the outside. Here’s what Schilling had to say of her hopes for the final season.
“She’s beginning to navigate what it’s like to live in the civilian world again, and learning that freedom doesn’t come immediately when she steps outside of prison,” Schilling told Entertainment Weekly. “She becomes a little bit bolder expressing what she wants rather than trying to fit in and make it about other people.”
Life on the outside also means separating from Alex (Laura Prepon), whom Piper married at the end of season 6. “Piper really realizes that Alex is fundamentally a part of her journey. That’s the choice that Piper is making, that Alex’s love is very important to her.”
“After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with,” series creator Jenji Kohan said in a statement when the end of the show was announced. “My heart is orange but fade to black.”
The seventh and final season of Orange Is the New Black will debut on July 26 on Netflix.

]]>The Netflix original will return on July 26 and will wrap up the stories of our favorite Litchfield inmates. We have so many questions we want to be answered and we are desperately hoping that Tasty will finally get the justice she deserves.
In preparation for the first trailer, Netflix has given us a sneak peek of what is to come. Take a look below.
We have the closest thing the show has to a protagonist, Piper, looking lost on the busy streets of NYC. Is life on the outside too much for her now that she has to navigate it alone?
After Nicky ratted out Red in season 6, it’s good to see the two are back on good terms. It’s just sad to see that they both look like they have received some terrible news…
Pensatucky is arguably the character who has seen the most character development. In season 7, it looks like there will be plenty more of that as she seems to be taking a test of some sort?
Tune in to Netflix on July 26 for the final season and head straight to OMG Check It Out for our full review.

]]>Chairman of Lionsgate Television Group Kevin Beggs said they are really proud of the long run this show had. Despite the fact the end is near, there’s still a possibility series creator Jenji Kohan will surprise us with some new stories in the future.
“We’re ending on a high note. Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with Jenji about a potential sequel,” explained Beggs.
This isn’t the first time the possibility of Orange is the New Black spinoff has been discussed. Executive producer Tara Herrmann previously stated they were exploring several options – including a Broadway production – but that will have to wait until the series officially wraps up.
“We want people to pay attention to the show we’re making, not a musical number with Piper and Alex. But that could happen in the future, who knows!” said Herrmann.

]]>Netflix’s hit series is wrapping up and its seventh season will be its last. The news was announced with an emotional video posted on the series’ Twitter.
The video captioned, “Warning: This may make you cry. The Final Season, 2019,” featured stars of the prison dramedy Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, and Uzo Aduba, along with other cast members, reminiscing about their seven-season run on the groundbreaking series.
“I’m going to miss playing and living on the edge of one of the most groundbreaking and original and controversial series of this decade,” Kate Mulgrew, who portrays Red, says in the video.
“I am so grateful for the fun times, the knowledge, the friendships, the love, the family we have created together,” Aduba who plays “Crazy Eyes” Warren, added.
“But the one thing is, our relationships will continue after the show,” Prepon, aka Alex Vause, assured, with Schilling, aka Piper Chapman. “Thank you so much for all of your support,” she said.
“During production of season one, everyone involved with Orange Is the New Black felt like we knew a special secret we couldn’t wait to share with the world. Since then, we have laughed, cried, raged, and roared with the women of Litchfield, and every moment spent with them felt like borrowed time — too good to last forever,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content for Netflix. “We will be sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be going out on a high. We are grateful to Jenji Kohan and her groundbreaking vision; to her supremely talented team of writers and producers; and to a once-in-a-lifetime cast and crew for creating a truly special work of art that has inspired conversations and connected audiences around the world.”
“Orange Is the New Black has profoundly impacted popular culture worldwide and has played a prominent role in building Lionsgate into a platform-defining brand,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group Chairman. “Thanks to the brilliance of Jenji Kohan, the mastery of the creative and production team, the transcendent cast, and our tremendous partnership with Netflix, the series has surpassed our expectations year after year. With great pride, we are working together to bring this landmark series to a triumphant, satisfying close with the upcoming seventh season.”

]]>The fifth season of the series divided fans, with some saying it was the best yet and other saying it was too dark. For the later viewers, it’s unlikely that season six was any improvement.
Those who enjoy the gritty, real and often political element of the show, however, will not be disappointed. The season kicks off with a suicide attempt from an unlikely inmate and the rest of the season depicts the struggles of the inmates adapting to maximum security prison. Some inmates, like Red and Alex Vause, have no trouble becoming accepted, while others like Mendoza, Flores and predictably, our protagonist Piper, find themselves unintentionally caught in the middle of things they would prefer to stay out of.
What is particularly admirable about the season is the way the characters become consistently more believable and interesting through their choice of unique survival tactics. Flaca typically chooses an outlet for her to tell people what’s what, Lorna jumps straight onto a new bandwagon and Alex finds herself reverting back to her old ways. We also see characters like Ruiz and Dayanara take on new and unpredictable methods for adapting to the change.
Season 6 also brought us an array of new characters, some likable and some less so. The murderous sisters/gang leaders were a nice addition as they provided the season with a proper storyline, which kept the pace going throughout. Badison is a frustrating, less likable character but she certainly kept things interesting. Unfortunately, the introduction of new characters was equaled out by the loss of new ones. Big Boo briefly appeared up in Ohio but was absent for the rest of the season.
Although there were some funny and sassy moments, which is what got season one’s fans hooked, the general tone of the season is quite serious. Watching Taystee be falsely accused and sent to trial for the murder of Piscatella is honestly troubling to watch. Equally heart-wrenching is the moment when we realize that Flores is not being reunited with Diego, but is being transferred to an immigration center.
Overall, the season was thoroughly gripping and enjoyable to watch. The ending was satisfying on all accounts and has kept us keen for the next season, but also wrapped things up nicely.

The ten-episode order centers on a Manhattan socialite whose wedding goes array as she discovers that her fiancé has been cheating on her. To cope, she runs off to join a Renaissance faire.
Executive VP and Head of Programming at Lifetime, Liz Gateley told Hollywood Reporter: “Jenji has always taken interesting and unconventional worlds and given them hear and humor. From the get-go, American Princess was a concept we loved as it’s incredibly relatable to want to parachute from one’s life in difficult times.”
