]]> Joe Jackson, father of Michael and Janet Jackson, along with the iconic group The Jackson 5, has passed away.

The 89-year-old patriarch of the Jackson family died on Wednesday while in hospital care in Las Vegas and according to ET, Joe’s health has worsened and his family was gathering to say their goodbyes. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and has been fighting the illness for a while now but recently, doctors informed the family that he has a short time to live because the cancer cannot be treated.

The co-executors of Michael Jackson’s estate released a statement confirming Joe’s death. “We are deeply saddened by Mr. Jackson’s passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Katherine Jackson and the family,” John Branca and John McClain said. “Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana, to worldwide pop superstardom.”

On Sunday, a tweet was posted from Mr. Jackson’s official Twitter account showing a photo of him standing against a sunset as if awaiting his final departure.

“I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes.”

One of his daughters, La Toya Jackson posted a heartwarming message to his father on Wednesday.

“I will always love you! You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world,” she wrote on her official Twitter account. “I am extremely appreciative of that, I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson.”

His grandchildren also paid tribute on social media including 20-year-old Paris Jackson who shared a lengthy and loving letter on her Instagram page.

He is survived by wife Katherine, nine of his 11 children and grandchildren including Michael’s kids, Paris, Prince and Blanket.

]]> Charlize Theron has nothing but good things to say about co-star Paris Jackson.

The Oscar-award winning actress opened up to ET’s Carly Steel at the world premiere of her movie, Gringo, in Los Angeles on Tuesday, about working with Jackson on the new project.

The daughter of late Michael Jackson makes her film debut in Gringo, portraying the role of Nelly, a 20-year-old edgy girl.

Theron talked about working with Paris and reflected on her being the daughter of the King of Pop.

“She comes from a great legacy, but I also don’t think that you want to be defined by the weight of all of that stuff,” Theron shared. “And I just really admired that she came in and really auditioned for this and was prepared and ready, and she handled this as an individual really well, as an actor really well, and I was impressed by that.”

The 42-year-old actress also discussed how her advocacy of feminism has influenced her parenting style to her two children, daughter August and son Jackson.

“I feel like I was lucky enough to have a parent that was very much aware of female issues and just always raised me knowing that there were no limitations just because of my identity and who I was,” she said. “And, for me, I think it really kicked in in the early ’90s, when rape became a big issue in South Africa, and I felt compelled once I got the information and the knowledge about what was happening in South Africa to actually go down there and try and do something about it.”

“I feel like I wake up in the morning with my kids and these are things that we kind of apply to our everyday life,” she added. “We’ll be driving in the car and I’ll be like, ‘You know you guys can be anything you want?’ And they’ll be like, ‘Ugh, we know, Mom.'”

Amazon Studios’ Gringo opens in theaters on March 9.
