The former Beatle co-wrote High in the Clouds with Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh. The story follows “an imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral who finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds.”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix,” McCartney said. “They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience.  I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. Paul McCartney has been secretly working on a musical adaptation of It’s A Wonderful Life

The former Beatle is ticking off another first — writing a musical adaptation of Frank Capra’s 1946 film. The idea hailed from British theatre producer, Bill Kenwright, who acquired the rights to It’s A Wonderful Life and then approached McCartney — three years ago!

“Like many of these things, this all started with an email,” McCartney said. “Bill had asked if it was something I might be up for. Writing a musical is not something that had ever really appealed to me, but Bill and I met up with Lee Hall and had a chat and I found myself thinking this could be interesting and fun.”

According to the musician, the forthcoming adaptation will be “a universal story we can all relate to.”

He’s been working with Billie Elliot scribe, Lee Hall, who said of the project, “It has absolutely everything: comedy, pathos and a rare humanity which has touched generation after generation. Yet it just couldn’t be more relevant. To give it a life on the stage is an immense privilege, but to do it with Paul McCartney is off the scale. Paul’s wit, emotional honesty, and melodic brilliance brings a whole new depth and breadth to the classic tale. I feel as if an angel must be looking after me.”

Production is set to launch in late 2020 in the UK before moving to Broadway.

Paul McCartney has revealed that a new version of the Let It Be movie might be re-released in 2020.

The original Let It Be was released in 1970 and documented the band’s time in the studio creating “Let It Be.” The movie included live footage of the band’s final performance together in London and was directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg.

In an interview with Canada’s Radio X, McCartney suggested that the movie might be re-released to mark its 50th anniversary in 2020.

“I think there may be a new version of it,” the Beatle said. “That is kind of the latest gossip.”

“We keep talking about [a re-release],” he continued. “We have meetings at Apple, you know, the original Beatles Apple. And it’s one of the things you never quite know what’s gonna happen with it. So there’s no [definite] story at the moment. But I keep saying ‘what’s gonna happen?’, because people ask about it.

“I tell you what I think it’s gonna happen. I think there may be a new version of it. That’s kind of the latest gossip. There’s a lot of footage, and the original movie came out, and it was really sort of about the break-up of The Beatles. And so for me, it was a little sad, the movie.”

He added: “But I know people have been looking at the [unreleased] footage; there’s about 56 hours of footage. And someone was talking to me the other day and said: ‘The overall feeling is very joyous and very uplifting. It’s like a bunch of guys making music and enjoying it’, you know. So I think there is some talk about making a new movie, re-editing it from the same period, from the same footage.

More news on the potential Let It Be re-release when more details are announced.

Paul McCartney had an unlikely inspiration for one of the tracks on his new album.

Egypt Station came out earlier this month and has been impressing critics and delighting his fans. Old school Beatle followers might be surprised to learn, however, that one of his tracks was inspired not by the icon’s rock n’ roll roots but by pop princess Taylor Swift.

The track we are referring to is “Who Cares” which admirably turns the expression on its head to reassure his listeners that there is always someone who cares, no matter how alone you might feel.

“I was actually thinking about Taylor Swift and her relationship to her young fans and how it’s sort of a sisterly thing,” the Beatle said to the BBC. “And I was imagining talking to one of these young fans and saying, ‘Have you ever been bullied? Do you get bullied?’”

“Then I say, ‘Who cares about the idiots? Who cares about all this? Who cares about you? Well… I do.’”

It’s not every day that one the most influential musicians of all time admits he has been inspired by modern pop. It somehow makes McCartney even more rock n’ roll.

Now that’s what you call a walk down memory lane!

The former Beatle surprised fans when he reenacted the famous Abbey Road crossing from the group’s 1969 album.

The 76-year-old music sensation was spotted in London, England retaking the now historic walk across Abbey Road, just as he did with fellow Beatles George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon almost fifty years ago.

Lucky for fans who weren’t fortunate enough to witness the walk live, McCartney posted the nostalgia-filled video to his Instagram account (luckily his daughter Mary was there to film it!). This time around McCartney was clad in maroon pants, a white button-up and a blazer slung over his shoulder, and unlike in the original, he also opted for some footwear.

Just over a month ago, McCartney announced that he will be releasing his 17th solo album titled Egypt Station. The record is set to be released on 7 September 2018.

Who’s retiring? Clearly not Paul McCartney.

The 76-year-old music icon has just released two new singles ahead of a forthcoming new album. The singles “I Don’t Know” and “Come On To Me” dropped Wednesday.

The singer took to social media to announce the exciting news, revealing on Twitter the released date of his new album, “New album Egypt Station arriving 7th September featuring singles ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Come On To Me’.”

McCartney spoke with BBC News about releasing new music decades into his successful career: “The great thing about the fact that you’ve been so successful for so long, comes the not-so-great thing, which is that at some point, you’re just gonna get big-headed… So yeah, if songs don’t just lay themselves out, then I will be quite strict, and think, ‘No, this is really lousy. I hate that bit of melody. I’ve gotta change it.’ And so then I will just work harder on it, come back to it, and spend some time, and try and fix it. And if I fix it, that’s fine, and then we go and record it. If I don’t, that’s not fine, and it gets chucked.”

The Beatle also confirmed that he will be touring the new album.

“[W]e definitely know we’re out in September, and beyond… before then, before August, we might just do a couple of little gigs, just because they’re fun.”

Egypt Station will be out September 7.
