The post 2024 People’s Choice Awards: “Barbie” & Taylor Swift Win Big appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Barbie came into the night with eight nominations and managed to take five trophies home. In addition to being named the movie of the year, it also won awards for the comedy movie of the year, the male and female movie star of the year (Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie), and the movie performance of the year (America Ferrera).
As for Taylor Swift, she conquered the music field with four wins, starting with the female artist of the year. She was also named the pop artist of the year and the social celebrity of the year, in addition to winning the award for the concert tour of the year with The Eras Tour.
There were no clear leaders in the TV categories, and The Kardashians, The Last of Us, and Only Murders in the Building were the only shows to walk away with two awards. Grey’s Anatomy was also among the top winners, and it defeated tough competition to be named the show of the year.
The People’s Choice Awards returned to the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on February 18, with Simu Liu serving as a host.

]]>The post 2024 People’s Choice Awards Nominations are In, Simu Liu is Hosting the Show appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Barbie will be the most nominated movie at this year’s People’s Choice Awards, with a staggering nine nods. It’s one of the contenders for the movie of the year award, but it will have to beat tough competition in the likes of Oppenheimer, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
NBC and E! are going full Barbiecore with this year’s ceremony, and they decided to tap one of the Kens, Simu Liu, to host the show.
“We’re thrilled to have Simu Liu host the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. As a fan-favorite tour de force in Hollywood, Simu’s limitless charm and connection to fans perfectly embody the spirit of this awards show,” said NBCUniversal’s Jen Neal in a statement.
The 2024 People’s Choice Awards will take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on February 18, and the list of top nominees also includes movies Oppenheimer and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, TV shows Only Murders in the Building, The Bear, and Ted Lasso, and musicians Luke Combs, Nicki Minaj, Morgan Wallen, and Taylor Swift.

]]>Marvel’s hit Doctor Strange sequel was named the movie of 2022, defeating the likes of The Batman, Nope, Elvis, and Top Gun: Maverick to win this trophy. Its star Elizabeth Olsen picked up the remaining two awards for this movie – the female movie star and the action movie star of 2022.
When it comes to the TV categories, Stranger Things was a clear front-runner. In addition to beating smash hits House of the Dragon and Grey’s Anatomy to win the award for the show of 2022, it picked up two more trophies—the sci-fi/fantasy show and the male TV star of 2022 (Noah Schnapp).
Taylor Swift dominated the music categories, where she picked up three awards – The Female Artist of 2022, the album of 2022 for Midnights, and the music video of 2022 for “Anti-Hero”. BTS was right behind with two trophies, including the group of 2022.
The People’s Choice Awards took place on December 6 with Kenan Thompson serving as host.

]]>People’s Choice Awards cover a wide range of entrainment fields and they now include around 40 categories, as numbers significantly increased over the years.
As for music categories, Bad Bunny is leading the race with seven nominations, but he’ll have to face tough competition in Lizzo and Harry Styles. Nope, Top Gun: Maverick and Bullet Train are some of the top contenders in the movie field, with This Is Us, Euphoria, Abbott Elementary, and Saturday Night Live leading the way among TV shows.
SNL’s Kenan Thompson, who hosted the show last year is set to return, and he’s being welcomed with open arms.
“Last year, Kenan brought an irreplaceable energy to the People’s Choice Awards. His enthusiasm and passion for pop culture and the fans was palpable and translated in the room and on-screen,” said NBCUniversal’s Cassandra Tryon.
The 2022 People’s Choice Awards are set to take place on December 6, with NBC and E! airing the show simultaneously.

]]>The full list of nominees was announced on Wednesday, and Drake led the way in the music categories with a total of seven nominations. He will be competing for Best Male Artist, Best Album, Best Song and Best Music Video.
“God’s Plan”, “In My Feelings” and “Walk It Talk It” all received a nomination for best song of 2018, so he’s mostly running against himself. Cardi B came in second, with five nominations.
When it comes to movies, Marvel proved its domination once again. Two of the superhero flicks from this studio walked away with seven nominations each. Those movies are Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. They’ll both be competing for the coveted Best Movie award against each other.
When it comes to TV, The Walking Dead is an absolute favorite. It received a total of eight nominations, including Best Show and Best Drama Show. It will have strong competition in medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, which revived six nominations.
This year sees the addition of 13 new categories, related to pop culture and social media. Voting will close on September 14 and top five nominees in each category will move to the next round. The finalist voting window will start on September 24 and run through October 19. The ceremony will take place on November 11, so make sure to cast your vote if you want to see your favorite star walking away with a shiny statue.
