The second official trailer for the animated tale is here and it features Octavia Spencer’s Manticore, a once “fearless” magical creature that’s a part lion, part bat, and part scorpion. 

The film follows two teenage elf brothers voiced by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland set out on a journey to bring their father back to life. Set in a largely magic-less suburban fantasy world, the two embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still magic left out there.

Additional new characters revealed in the trailer are Mel Rodriguez as centaur Officer Colt Bronco, Lena Waithe who voices Officer Specter, and comedienne Ali Wong as Officer Gore. Julia Louis-Dreyfus voices Ian and Barley’s mom Laurel, who teams up with the Manticore (Spencer) when she realizes her sons are in danger.

Pixar unveiled the first trailer for its forthcoming animated existential adventure feature titled Soul. 

The film follows a middle school music teacher who dreams of being a jazz performer, but when he finally gets the gig of a lifetime, an accident sends his soul to the You Seminar, a celestial workshop that creates souls and gives them personalities before sending them off to human bodies.

Voicing the lead character is Jamie Foxx. He’s joined by Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs.

“We only have a short time on this planet,” Foxx’s character says in the new trailer. “You want to become the person you were born to be. Don’t waste your time on all the junk of life. Spend your precious hours doing what will bring out the real you, the brilliant passionate you that’s willing to contribute something meaningful to this world.”

Soul hits theaters June 19, 2020.

The film’s director Pete Docter made the announcement at the D23 expo in Anaheim Saturday.

Soul tells the story of a middle school band teacher named Joe Gardner (Foxx) who believes his purpose in life is to play jazz and dreams of playing at legendary New York jazz club The Blue Note. But then he steps into an open sewer gate and finds himself at the You Seminar, “a celestial workshop for souls to be created and given personality traits before they move on to real humans.” 

“I’m directing a film that asks the ultimate question that we’ve all thought about at one time or another: Why am I here? Where did I come from? And what am I here for?” Docter revealed to exop-goers. “But who would make a cartoon about that? Metaphysics? We’re calling it Soul.”

Soul arrives in theaters on June 19, 2020.

The new full-length trailer finally introduces fans to a new toy, Canada’s greatest stuntman, Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves. 

The fourth installment in the franchise sees the old gang including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep and others go on a rescue mission to find newcomer Forky. Voiced by Tony Hale, Forky is Bonnie’s newest makeshift toy, a spork with googly eyes and pipe cleaner hands. Duke Caboom, who’s is a real “poser,” according to Bo Peep, joins them, as well as another newcomer, Christina Hendricks‘ Gabby Gabby, a pull-string doll from the 1950s.

Toy Story was Pixar’s very first feature film. Debuting in 1995 this upcoming fourth installment will carry the franchise into its 25th year.

Toy Story 4 will hit theaters on June 21.

The leading voice stars for Pixar’s next original movie have been announced and they are  Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Octavia Spencer.

The four will work together in the animated adventure described in the past by Pixar as a “suburban fantasy.” The film follows two teenage elf brothers (Holland and Pratt), who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still magic left in the world.

“At Pixar, we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth,” director Dan Scanlon said in a statement. “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”

Scanlon and producer Kori Rae couldn’t be happier with the stellar cast tapped to take part in the production.

“Chris brings equal parts huge heart and fantastic humor to his character,” said Rae, and Spencer “can do it all. We’re especially excited about the depth as well as humor that she brings to her character.”

Holland “has an infectious charm and sincerity that makes you root for him in every character he plays,” said Scanlon said and added that “there is no one funnier than Julia. But she also brings a warmth and loving side to her character.”

Onward is scheduled to hit theaters March 6, 2020.

The first teaser for Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 4 has arrived and fans finally get introduced to the gang’s newest plaything, Forky, voiced by comedian Tony Hale (Veep).

The short video features the old gang including Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Slinky Dog, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head floating through the air, when mid-flight the frightened Forky screams, “I don’t belong here!” “I’m not a toy!” the makeshift spork screams toward the end. “Hey! Hey!” Woody tells the group. “Somebody get him before he pokes an eye out.”

The studio’s official logline for the upcoming film says, “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”

Director Josh Cooley said, “Like most people, I assumed that Toy Story 3 was the end of the story. And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy. But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”

“The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose,” adds Cooley. “A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects? Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork, but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.” To which adds Hale, “A utensil’s existential crisis? I’m in!”

The absolute winner when it comes to international market has been China. Chinese audience brought the movie nearly the same earnings as the U.S. – $133 million.

While the Dia de los Muertos adventure film by the award-winning animation studio was just released (November 22), fans are already eyeing the studio’s future films with relish.

Coming up first with the release date of June 15, 2018 is the sequel to The Incredibles a long 14 years after the incredible Parr family made their first appearance. The sequel picks up where and when the original movie left off, with the narrative shifting slightly to feature Elastigirl as she steps into what is, according to director Brad Bird, the “forefront of the action.” In the family’s new house, Mr. Incredible assumes more responsibilities to do with his newfound discovery of baby son Jack-Jack’s powers.

Up next is third sequel to the studio mega hit Toy Story. The fourth installment in the franchise has a release date of June 21, 2019. The sequel  will be produced by Jonas Rivera and directed by Josh Cooley; this will be the first time two former Pixar interns produce and direct one of the studio’s films together. Even though details about the movie’s plot are scarce, there was a behind-the-scenes video that teased the filmmaker’s suggestive research trip in the form of an RV vacation. Beginning anew with the toy box is living a post-Andy era as they are in the possession of young Bonnie, perhaps this time around it’ll be a family vacation adventure.

A third film has yet to be titled or given a release date. An original by Monster’s University’s director Dan Scanlon, the “modern suburban fantasy” takes place in what looks like ordinary suburbia, however, rather than being inhibited by humans, it is populated by elves, trolls, and their fantastical ilk. In a place where magic existed, but has longed disappeared, two teenage brother creatures embark on an adventure and search of a way to spend “one last magical day” with their late father.
