The Harry Potter alum has just landed his next TV gig.

Rupert Grint, best known for his portrayal of Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, has joined the cast of Apple’s new psychological thriller series.

The series was created by Tony Basgallop (24) and M. Night Shyamalan (Unbreakable). The two will also serve as executive producers with Shyamalan set to direct the first episode. The series which received a straight-to-series order will be produced by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures.

Grint has joined the previously announced Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Nell Tiger (Game of Thrones). While Apple has kept plot and character details well under wraps, Deadline reports that the untitled project will follow parents Dorothy (Ambrose) and Sean Turner, who have hired a nanny to help care for their newborn child. Grint will play Julian Pearce, Dorothy’s younger brother.

You can see Grint next on BBC’s ABC Murders opposite John Malkovich. His other credits include Broadway’s It’s Only A Play and Netflix’s Sick Note.

It would be hard to imagine the Harry Potter movies without Rupert Grint in the role of Ron Weasley, but that was close to becoming a reality at one point. In a recent interview, Grint revealed that he was thinking about walking away from the franchise after filming Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

According to the 30-year-old actor, fame started becoming too much for him at that point.

“I had just finished my GCSEs,” Grint told Independent. “I thought ‘Do I actually want to keep doing this? It’s a bit of a drag.’ Because obviously, it’s a big sacrifice. You take for granted anonymity, just doing normal stuff, just going out. Everything was different and a little bit scary. There were times when I was like ‘I’m done.’”

Luckily for all Harry Potter fans, Grint decided to finish what he started and continued to play Ron Weasley in the remaining four installments in the film series.

Since the series wrapped in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, Rupert Grint decided to stay away from big budget movies for a while and take on smaller-scale projects like Randall Miller’s historical drama CBGB and Antoine Bardou-Jacquet’s comedy Moonwalkers.

Grint worked on television in recent years as well, starring in British TV shows Sick Note and Snatch. He will also be part of The A.B.C. Murders, upcoming mini-series based on the novel by Agatha Christie.
