]]>Swift topped the list of iHeartRadio Music Awards nominees with nine nods, and she lived up to the high expectations. She walked away with six accolades, including the coveted artist of the year award, beating the likes of SZA, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Drake.
She was also named pop artist of the year, in addition to winning four more awards for best lyrics with “Is It Over Now?”, TikTok Bop of the year with “Cruel Summer”, tour of the year, and favorite tour style for The Eras Tour.
As for SZA, she collected one of the ceremony’s shiniest trophies with her viral hit “Kill Bill” – the coveted song of the year. She also dominated the R&B field, winning R&B artist of the year, R&B album of the year with SOS, and R&B song of the year with “Snooze”.
The 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards took place at Los Angeles’ iconic Dolby Theatre on April 1, with Ludacris hosting the festivities.

]]>The post 2024 Glastonbury Festival: SZA, Coldplay & Dua Lipa Top the Lineup appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Coldplay’s return marks a historic moment for the festival, as they become the first act to headline Glastonbury five times. Their past performances in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016 still haven’t been forgotten, and their upcoming set will be one of the highlights of their ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour.
Dua Lipa and SZA also add a historic twist to this year’s Glastonbury, which will mark the first edition of this festival with two female headliners. They’ll both have new music to promote – Lipa is gearing up for the release of her third studio album Radical Optimism, while SZA has been teasing the reissue of her hit sophomore album SOS, titled Lana.
Glastonbury will take us back to Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset between June 26-30. LCD Soundsystem, Burna Boy, Shania Twain, Idles, The National, Camilla Cabello, Anne-Marie, Janelle Monáe, and Avril Lavigne are some of the performers set to grace the stage this year.

]]>The post 2024 Grammy Awards: Taylor Swift Makes History With “Midnights” & Teases New Album appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>Swift defeated tough competition in the likes of SZA’s SOS, Boygenius’ The Record, and Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts to win album of the year, and she found a special way to thank her fans.
“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage,” said Swift.
Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” was crowned record of the year, beating Swift’s “Anti-Hero”, SZA’s “Kill Bill”, and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”. This song failed to repeat its success in the song of the year field, where Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” came out victorious. It was also a big night for Victoria Monét, who collected the best new artist award.
Phoebe Bridgers was the ceremony’s top winner with four accolades, including three with Boygenius. SZA, Victoria Monét, and Killer Mike also walked away with three trophies.
The 2024 Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, with Trevor Noah hosting the show.

]]>SZA kicked off 2023 on a high note—by dropping an epic music video for her revenge anthem “Kill Bill” that would even put Quentin Tarantino to shame.
Speaking of music videos that knocked us off our feet in early 2023, Miley Cyrus created quite a commotion when she dropped a visual for her self-love anthem “Flowers”, sparking countless fan theories and think pieces along the way.
Troye Sivan gave us one of the catchiest songs of 2023 with “Rush”, and its music video went on to receive a Grammy nod – in addition to starting a conversation about body image in the queer community.
Another music video nominated for a Grammy, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” is both a love letter to Barbie and the past eras of the young singer’s career.
Kylie Minogue’s career experienced quite a renaissance this year, and none of that would have been possible if the music video for “Padam Padam” hadn’t become a viral hit on social media.

]]>The post 2024 Grammy Awards: SZA Leads the Way With Nine Nominations appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>SZA scored nominations in most of the main fields, including album of the year with SOS and record and song of the year with its breakout single “Kill Bill”. She’s also been nominated for best pop duo/group performance and multiple R&B categories, including best R&B performance and best progressive R&B album.
SZA will have to beat tough competition to take the trophy for album of the year home since the list of contenders in this category also includes Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts, Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure, Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation, Lana Del Rey’s Ocean Blvd, Boygenius’s The Record, and Jon Batiste’s World Music Radio.
Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and audio mixer Serban Ghenea, who collaborated with Rodrigo, Swift, and Batiste this past year, all scored seven nominations. The list of contenders with six nods includes Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Brandy Clark, Boygenius, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, who broke the Grammy record for most song of the year nominations with her seventh nod for “Anti-Hero”.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will return to Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024, and the host is yet to be announced.

]]>After dominating this year’s MTV VMAs, Swift is coming into another award ceremony as the main contender. She’s in the running in seven different categories, including best song and best video with “Anti-Hero”, in addition to best artist, best pop, best live, biggest fans, and best US act.
Swift’s “Anti-Hero” will have to face some pretty tough competition in the best song categories, where Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red”, Jung Kook’s “Seven” ft. Latto, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”, SZA’s “Kill Bill”, and “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez also received nods.

]]>The race for album of the year was pretty tight, with Kendrick Lamar, Drake, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, and GloRilla also in the running for this accolade. SZA and Beyoncé eventually managed to cross the finish line and shared the night’s biggest honor.
SZA emerged victorious with her album SOS, in addition to taking home awards for female R&B/pop artist and video of the year with “Kill Bill”. Beyoncé owes her latest album of the year trophy to her acclaimed LP Renaissance, and she also collected BET Her Award and Viewer’s Choice Award with “Break My Soul”.
There wasn’t so much overlap in the movie categories, but Black Panther: Wakanda Forever managed to emerge as the biggest winner. It claimed the title of the best movie against tough competition, which included Creed 3, Nope, and The Woman King. Angela Bassett collected the best actress award for her performance in this MCU blockbuster, while the Snowfall star Damson Idris was named the best actor.

]]>The post SZA Tops Billboard Hot 100 With “Kill Bill” After Eight Weeks at No. 2 appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.
]]>During its most recent week on the Billboard Hot 100, “Kill Bill” attracted 86.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, 28.3 million streams, and 5,000 downloads. The release of a new remix featuring Doja Cat played an important role in its success, but she wasn’t credited on the Hot 100 because the original version accounted for the majority of the song’s overall consumption.
SZA and Doja Cat previously proved they’re a match made in heaven with “Kiss Me More”, which peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won a Grammy Award for best pop duo/group performance and several more accolades.
“Kill Bill” hails from SZA’s second studio album SOS, which hit the shelves on December 9, 2022. This song immediately established itself as the biggest hit on the record and debuted at No. 3 following its release. It was only released as the album’s fifth single about a month later, due to its strong streaming numbers.

]]>S.O.S. easily hit No. 1 with 318,000 units earned during its first week on the chart, following its release on December 9. Its sales consisted of 309,500 in SEA units, 7,500 in album sales, and 1,000 in TEA units, allowing this LP to set several major milestones along the way.
S.O.S. had the fifth-largest debut and the third-largest streaming week for any album released in 2022. It also set a new record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album.
S.O.S. was preceded by singles “Good Days”, “I Hate U”, and “Shirt”, in addition to featuring collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers and Travis Scott. The singer will support it with a sold-out North American tour, and she’s excited to finally perform some new material.
“People have been kind enough to watch me perform the same set for f—king five years… The patience and the love that they’ve shown me the whole way… I just wanna give them the craziest experience they could ever have and play whatever they want,” the singer told Rolling Stone.

]]>The post 5 Music Videos That 2023 Will Be Remembered By appeared first on OMG Check It Out !.

Most of the same tracks are also in the running for the best video award, with the exceptions of Jung Kook’s “Seven” and “Calm Down” by Rema and Selena Gomez. “Gorilla” by Little Simz and “Bongos” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion took their spots in this category.
The 2023 MTV EMAs will return to the Paris Nord Villepinte in Paris, France on November 5, and the list of major contenders also includes Olivia Rodrigo and SZA with six nods and Doja Cat, Måneskin, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj with four each.
