]]>Shortly after teasing their new album with a cryptic newspaper ad, The Rolling Stones confirmed its release during a livestream event hosted by Jimmy Fallon. They tuned in from the Hackney Empire Theatre in London and gave us all the info about their first album of original material in almost 20 years.
The music video for the lead single “Angry” has also been unveiled during the live stream. It shows Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney being driven in a red convertible around Los Angeles, stumbling upon The Rolling Stones’ billboards, and she had the time of her life filming it.
“I freaked out, called my family, and brought my mum. This is the biggest thing ever. I didn’t know it would be the first single… It’s stuck in my head,” said Sweeney during the livestream.
Hackney Diamonds will be released on October 20, and it will feature a total of 12 songs, including “Sweet Sound Of Heaven” featuring Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.

]]>Jagger told Zane Lowe of Apple Music that he wrote the song with Keith Richards over a year ago. “It wasn’t written for now, but it was just one of those odd things. It was written about being in a place which was full of life but is now bereft of life so to speak… I was just jamming on the guitar and wrote it really quickly in like 10 minutes.”
But then the duo felt that due to the times, some of the lyrics needed to be re-written.
“Keith Richards and I both had the idea that we should release it,” he said. “But I said, ‘Well I’ve got to rewrite it.’ Some of it is not going to work and some of it was a bit weird and a bit too dark. So I slightly rewrote it. I didn’t have to rewrite very much, to be honest. It’s very much how I originally did it.”
