The tough-guy character actor leaves an amazing legacy behind him, and many of his former co-stars and fans sent condolences to his family following his passing.

Sirico spent his final days at an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His family didn’t release a formal cause of death, but Sirico was diagnosed with dementia years prior to his passing.

“It is with great sadness, but with incredible pride, love, and a whole lot of fond memories, that the family of Gennaro Anthony ‘Tony’ Sirico wishes to inform you of his death on the morning of July 8, 2022,” reads the statement released by the actor’s family.

Following the news, many of Sirico’s on The Sopranos co-stars released statements paying tribute to the late actor. The Sopranos creator David Chase and stars Steven Van Zandt, Lorraine Bracco, Jamie Lynn Sigler, and Edie Falco celebrated his legacy, but the most emotional tribute came from his biggest partner in crime, Michael Imperioli.

“Tony was like no one else: he was as tough, as loyal and as big-hearted as anyone I’ve ever known… I will miss him forever. He is truly irreplaceable. I send love to his family, friends and his many many fans. He was beloved and will never be forgotten. Heartbroken today,” wrote Imperioli.

In addition to playing Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri on The Sopranos, Sirico had around 80 movie and TV credits to his name, and he’s known for starring in Goodfellas, Romeo Is Bleeding, and multiple films directed by Woody Allen.

“The Sopranos” Prequel Movie Finds Its Young Tony Soprano https://omgcheckitout.com/the-sopranos-prequel-movie-finds-its-young-tony-soprano/ Thu, 24 Jan 2019 07:02:59 +0000 https://omgcheckitout.com/?p=29307 David Chase is done searching for an actor to play the young Tony Soprano in the upcoming prequel of The Sopranos, and let’s just say he’s keeping it in the family. Michael Gandolfini will be in charge to bringing this character to life on the big screen.

Michael is the son of the late acting legend James Gandolfini, who became a household name while playing the infamous New Jersey mob boss in the original series. He passed away back in 2013, after suffering a heart attack during a family trip to Italy.

His son Michael will probably get his big break thanks to this role, but he already has a couple of credits to his name. You’ve probably seen him starring on HBO show The Deuce, alongside James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

He’s excited about the prospect of portraying the character that transformed his father into a superstar, and something tells us he’ll be up to the task.

“It’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano. I’m thrilled that I’m going to have the opportunity to work with David Chase and the incredible company of talent he has assembled for The Many Saints of Newark,” said Michael Gandolfini.
