The original Netflix superhero comedy will be directed by McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone, form his own script. Marc Platt, Falcone and McCarthy are producing. 

The husband and wife are frequent collaborators, having previously worked on Tammy (2014), The Boss (2016), and Life of the Party (2018). However, should McCarthy and Spencer join the project, it will be the first time the Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning actresses share the screen.

While plot details are kept under wraps, according to Entertainment Weekly, the story would focus on the two characters getting superpowers. And, oh yeah — the film will not be R-rated. 

McCarthy’s credits include Can You Ever Forgive Me? and Bridesmaids; Spencer’s credits include The Help, The Shape of Water and Hidden Figures.
