Allen dropped some hints about the Toy Story sequel in a recent interview on The Tonight Show and told the host Jimmy Fallon that he’s been contacted by Disney.

“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on. He actually said it was going to happen. They have reached out to Tom and I to reprise the roles. They’re not saying anything about it,” said Allen.

Allen also revealed that he has been reluctant about returning as Buzz Lightyear because you must wonder if five movies are too many. He decided to come back because one of the original scribes is involved with the sequels, adding this could be “a very, very interesting way to reunite it.”

Upon its release in 2019, Toy Story 4 garnered critical acclaim and crossed the coveted $1 billion mark to become the highest-grossing film in the franchise. The sequel would serve as a potential revival of this franchise, which is yet to recover from the disappointing box office numbers of the polarizing spin-off Lightyear.

Fox has renewed the family multicamera comedy for another season. This will be the series’ second season on Fox and eighth overall. 

The show stars Tim Allen as Mike Baxter, a happily married father of three daughters, who finds himself the odd man out as he tries to maintain his manliness in a home dominated by women.

“Last Man Standing roared out of the gate on Fox, and has maintained its ratings dominance ever since,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment. “Much of that credit goes to the incredibly funny and talented Tim Allen, not to mention Nancy [Travis], Hector [Elizondo] and the rest of the show’s great cast. We’d like to thank Kevin, Matt and the entire crew, along with our partners at 20th Century Fox Television, for overseeing one of television’s most popular comedies. We’d also like to congratulate them all on reaching 150 episodes — a milestone that’s well-deserved.”

The show has hit a major milestone Friday, its 150th episode. 

“Hard to believe Last Man Standing hits 150 episodes this week and it gets better with another upcoming season at Fox,” said Allen. “Great news for all of us who are creating these stories and working our pants off to make you all laugh. It’s another big high-five to the legions of loyal fans who have faithfully kept us front and center and huge on the radar. Thanks to our family at Fox, who continue to make us feel so at home. Man, if we keep this up, they might have to call our show: Last Man Unable to Stand.”

Tim Allen AKA Buzz Lightyear has revealed that Reeves has a role in the upcoming fourth installment of the hugely successful franchise. Allen shared the tidbit on the newcomer to the toy box Wednesday on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Despite the reveal, Allen didn’t say much else about the character or the plot, saying, “it is so good… it is so deep and moving, and wonderful plot, [but] I can’t give anything away.”

“They really will surprise you with the toys they came up with,” Allen said. “Characters came back, new guys in it that are great. Keanu Reeves has got a great part.”

Then he continued: “Actually, a little inside story: Even he [Revves] said — gentle, wonderful guy that he is — ‘This sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear.’ And his character does have an edge to that. And the guy said, ‘So we calmed him down a little bit,’ and they reminded me his toy is only that big.”

Pixar dropped the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 last week, which kicked the fans’ anticipation into high gear. The trailer introduced a new toy, Forky, a spork turned craft project turned toy voiced by Tony Hale.

Toy Story 4 will hit theaters on June 21, 2019.

Based on Allen’s stand-up comedy, It has been almost two decades since the show ended, but Allen says he’s ready to dust off his power tools.

Allen spoke with ET at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar-viewing party on Sunday, where he was asked if the show’s original cast, including Patricia Richardson, Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Taran Noah Smith, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning, would be down for a reboot.

“I can’t say everybody, but it has been floated, and more than I would have expected said, ‘Yeah, that would be cool to do it years later.’” Allen went on to hint that he will be willing to helm a reboot project if it meant that his co-stars would follow.

As he still reminisces about his comedy, titled Last Man Standing since it ended earlier than expected, canceled after 6 seasons, he said, “I still miss Last Man Standing. We didn’t get our seventh year. I adored that show. It’s like having a new dog and now to go back to the old dog? I don’t know. I like both characters, but yeah, I’d be very interested in that idea.”

While there is no official Home Improvement reboot news, it does seem plausible that in the spirit of reboots and sequels we might be seeing Tim Taylor and Tool Time on our screens again.
