]]>In the first teaser trailer for the new show Mars is back with a vengeance – and so is her iconic taser.
The short clip doesn’t reveal much of the plot and simply shows Kristen Bell taking on the role of Veronica Mars and delivering a couple of cheeky lines: “Spring break in Neptune. That means drunks, derelicts, flashers, frat boys, sorority vomit, pickpockets, bottomless drinks and topless dancers, street scum and beach bums. And that’s just the walk to my car. Fortunately, I’m good to go.”
Hulu previously revealed that this show will focus on Mars trying to solve a series of mysterious murders that took place during spring break in Neptune. It is set to premiere on July 26 and it will see several familiar faces returning to their respective roles.

]]>As part of the announcement, an official synopsis for the revival was also provided: “Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into an epic eight-episode mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”
Veronica Mars revival will debut at some point in 2019 and will see Kristen Bell making a return as the lead character and series’ creator Rob Thomas directing the first episode. Hulu also acquired all the episodes of the original series as well as the film, with plans to make them available for stream next summer.
Veronica Mars debuted in 2004 on UPN, revolving around a high school student who works as a private investigator with the help of her detective father. Although success with the critics, the series never managed to get high ratings and was canceled after the third season in 2007.
Fans of the series, however, never stopped hoping for a continuation of the story and decided to do something about it themselves. Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell set up a Kickstarter fundraiser for Veronica Mars movie, and the internet responded in a big way. The campaign managed to get close to $6 million, and the feature was released in 2014 to a positive response.

]]>During a Facebook Live interview on Wednesday, co-star Ryan Hansen was asked about the possibility of the series’ comeback and he got Kristen Bell on the phone to dish about playing the investigator once again.
“Rob and I are sort of in constant contact about when we could do it again,” Bell said. “There’s a lot of willingness and commitment to doing it again.”
The actress is currently starring NBC’s The Good Place, but noted that if they were to bring Veronica back, it would be some kind of TV or streaming series.
“Personally, and I think that Rob probably agrees that, A: we’ll never make the fans pay for it again, and B: the format works better in an episodic, where you get a little more of it,” she shared. “So we want to do a miniseries. We are willing to put the effort in.”
“I mean, if I have to do it as Murder, She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”
