Taraji P. Henson is officially a taken woman.
After confirming the relationship just last December, the 47-year-old actress has announced her engagement to 34-year-old former NFL pro, Kelvin Hayden.
The news was confirmed on Monday by Henson herself who took to social media to share the exciting news with her fans.
“I said yes y’all,” was the caption Henson chose to go with a photo of her new ring next to a congratulatory dessert. “He started with the Cartier love bracelet BUT that was my #Mothersday gift and then dropped to his knee and I almost passed out!!! #sheisofficiallyoffthemarket and she is sooooooooooooo HAPPY!!!!!! #GODIS.”
After the engagement, the Empire star spoke with ET at Fox’s upfront presentation, where she dished out details about her romantic moment.
“I think he was trying to wait, and he couldn’t wait, ’cause he had the ring, and I guess it was burning a hole in his pocket… He takes me where we had our first date, I didn’t put that together. I didn’t put it together until we went into the party room after we ate, and I saw a violinist… as I’m putting the dots together, I turn around, he’s on his knee and then the river of tears just started and my lashes ended up on the floor,” Henson recalled.
