Taylor Swift will be returning to the big screen. The singer has been cast in director David O. Russell’s next film.

Swift joins the cast which includes Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, and Zoe Saldana.

Russel (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) will be directing the film from his own script. This marks his first feature since 2015’s Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence.

The title of the film and plot details has been kept under wraps, but it’s already completed production. Disney’s 20th Century Studios will be releasing the New Regency film and the date hasn’t been determined yet.

Swift has released two albums last year, Folklore and Evermore, and this project will be her first big screen role since Cats. The singer made her film debut in the 2010 comedy Valentine’s Day, starring with Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, and Taylor Lautner. Her other film roles include The Giver and The Lorax. She also released her documentary Miss Americana in 2020.
