The Billboard Music Awards returned to celebrate the best music of 2023 on Sunday night, and the list of winners is truly an embarrassment of riches. The country singer Morgan Wallen led the way with 11 wins, followed by the pop icon Taylor Swift with 10 awards.
Swift had to beat tough competition in Drake, Wallen, SZA, and Luke Combs to be named the top artist at this year’s ceremony. Both Swift and Drake brought their career totals to 39 wins at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, setting a new record for most awards won by a single artist.
Swift wasn’t able to pick up her awards in person because she’s currently busy touring across South America, but she took a moment to tune in via video and thank her passionate fanbase in her acceptance speech.
“I’m talking to the fans specifically. None of this happens without you. The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made The Eras Tour so magical,” said Swift.
As for Wallen, he walked away with 11 awards, including top male artist, top Billboard 200 album for One Thing at the Time, and top Hot 100 song for “Last Night”. Drake collected five accolades, and SZA and Zach Bryan were right behind with four each.
