“The 100” to End After Season 7

The 100 is coming to an end.

News that the post-apocalyptic drama will end with its forthcoming seventh season was confirmed Sunday by series creator and showrunner Jason Rothenberg. Rothenberg took to social media to share the news with fans, writing, “With #The100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last. We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!”

News of the cancelation was also confirmed by network President, Mark Pedowitz at the TCA summer press tour. He said, “We’ve been very good at listening to our showrunner creators about the right time to end our series.”

The post-apocalyptic drama followed a mostly adolescent group of survivors fighting to stay alive despite unimaginable odds. The 100 was inspired by the young adult novels by Kass Morgan and starred Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Shannon Kook, JR Bourne, and Tasya Teles.
