“The Conners” Renewed For Season 2

It’s official: ABC has ordered a second season of The Conners.

Despite the multiple controversies, a second season of the Roseanne spinoff is officially happening. News of the renewal were confirmed by the network Friday

“We are proud to be continuing the story of the iconic Conners family,” Karey Burke, president ABC Entertainment, said in a statement. “This team is fearless in their willingness to tackle contemporary issues with humor and heart, and I have no doubt they will continue to outdo themselves.”

The Conners debuted in October. It follows a working-class Americas family as it deals with everyday hardships like parenthood, divorce, dating, aging and financial pressures after losing the family’s matriarch to opioid abuse.

The Conners starred Roseanne alums including John Goodman (Dan Conner), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris), Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner) and Lecy Goranson (Becky Conner-Healy). The first season also featured an impressive lineup of guest appearances including Matthew Broderick, Juliette Lewis, Katey Sagal, Mary Steenburgen, Justin Long and Jay R. Ferguson.
