The first official trailer for the Downton Abbey movie was finally released and it sees the Crawley family prepare for a royal visit.
Fans were finally given their first look at the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the small screen hit. And that first look reveals that the film will center on the king and queen’s visit to Downton and the Crawleys’ preparations for the occasion.
Last year, director Michael Engler said of the plot, “Life is settling into these new realities when this event happens at Downton that brings everybody together. The storyline has expanded the scale of it. It takes the things you love about Downton — the romance, the intrigue, the pageantry — and makes it bigger.”
The film hails from Julian Fellowes, who also wrote the script.
Downton Abbey hits theaters September 20.
