The Last of Us is one of the most beloved TV shows returning to our small screens this spring, and we finally know when we’ll get to revisit this post-apocalyptic world again. HBO teased the long-awaited Season 2 with three new character posters, while also revealing its April release date.
Based on Naughty Dog’s hit video game of the same name, The Last of Us centers on a hardened survivor Joel, as he tries to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States. Season 2 will reunite us with this duo five years after the events of the first chapter, and see them facing an even more uncertain future in a world infested by zombie-like creatures.
HBO’s new characters posters show Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey facing new challenges as Joel and Ellie, along with Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, who’ll join them as the third main character in Season 2.
The show’s ensemble cast will also include Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Jeffrey Wright as Issac, and Catherine O’Hara in a mystery role.
The Last of Us will return to HBO on April 13, and it will feature seven brand-new episodes. The show’s co-creator Craig Mazin previously described them as “high-calorie, dense episodes”, telling Entertainment Weekly “If you consider action and drama and scope to be the things that create an epic nature, each one of these episodes packs quite a wallop. You will not be bored.”
