After a lot of anticipation, The Last of Us is coming back to HBO this spring, and we finally know what to expect from Season 2. HBO’s new trailer introduces us to many new characters while also revealing The Last of Us will make its grand return this April.

The Last of Us draws inspiration from the video game of the same name, and it sees a hardened survivor Joel trying to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. According to HBO’s official logline, Season 2 will take place five years after the events of the first and see Joel and Ellie “drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are returning as leads in Season 2, along with Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. She makes an appearance in a new trailer, saying, “It doesn’t matter if you have a code like me. There are just some things everyone agrees are just wrong.”

Season 2 will also star Gabriel Luna, Rutina Wesley, Isabela Merced, Young Mazino, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Danny Ramirez, Jeffrey Wright, and Catherine O’Hara. It will premiere on HBO this April, and it’s expected to span seven episodes.
