“The Lord of the Rings” Amazon Series Finds Director

Amazon is currently developing a high-profile adaptation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and they found the perfect director to get the job done. J. A. Bayona will helm the first episodes and set the tone for the entire series.

Before landing this major gig, Bayona has proven his talent with critically acclaimed dramas The Impossible and A Monster Calls. His most recent credit is blockbuster flick Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom from 2018.

The script will be written by JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who are excited about welcoming Bayona to the creative team. He’s equally thrilled to join them and bring J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic novels to our small screens.

“J.R.R. Tolkien created one of the most extraordinary and inspiring stories of all time, and as a lifelong fan it is an honor and a joy to join this amazing team. I can’t wait to take audiences around the world to Middle-earth and have them discover the wonders of the Second Age, with a never before seen story,” said Bayona in a statement.
