“The Prince of Egypt” is Heading to the West End

Disney seems to be making a million remakes these days, but this is a remake we are super excited about!

The Prince of Egypt, a DreamWorks film that depicts the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt, is transitioning from animation to the stage and being turned into a musical.

The biblical classic has been a staple in most homes each Passover since being released in 1998. It is also renowned for its majestic lead song — the duet by Whitney Huston and Mariah Carey entitled “When You Believe.”

The film will now be heading to London’s West End for a 33-week run.

Stephen Schwartz of Wicked will helm the show’s music and lyrics, while Philip LaZebnik of Mulan and Pocahontas has been tasked with creating the musical’s book.

“When You Believe” — which won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1999 — will feature, as well as five other songs from the movie and 10 brand new tracks.

Moses be gracing the London stage starting February 25th, 2020.
