The Weeknd gave us the defining album of his career with After Hours, and he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. After being completely shut out of this year’s Grammys, the Canadian hitmaker won big at the Billboard Music Awards and walked away with a total of 10 trophies.

The Weeknd’s domination at this ceremony was to be expected since he received 16 nominations. He managed to win 10 of those awards, and came out victorious in the categories Top artist, Top Hot 100 artist, Top male artist, Top radio songs artist, Top R&B artist, Top R&B male artist, Top R&B album, Top radio song, Top R&B song, and Top Hot 100 song for “Blinding Lights”.

He was closely followed by Pop Smoke, who walked away with five awards—Top new artist, Top rap artist, Top rap male artist, Top Billboard 200 album, and Top rap album. The list of major winners also included BTS and Bad Bunny with four awards, and Gabby Barrett with three.

Honorary awards went to Pink, who walked away with the Icon Award, while Drake was named Artist of the Decade. The 2021 Billboard Music Awards took place on May 23rd, with Nick Jonas serving as the host.
