“Titanic” Returning to Theaters for 20th Anniversary Celebration

Titanic, James Cameron’s timeless masterpiece, is celebrating its 20th anniversary next month. Honoring this great milestone, Titanic will come back to theaters for one week and will be available in all Dolby Cinema locations across the US.

The movie premiered on December 19, 1997, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Cameron, who is in production on four Avatar sequels, won the Oscar for best director for Titanic. The movie grossed $2.18 billion worldwide. The only movie to score a higher gross is Avatar at $2.8 billion.

Director Cameroon shared a statement regarding its return: “We mastered a few minutes of Titanic in Dolby Vision and I was stunned. It was like seeing it for the first time. Now that the entire film has been mastered, I’m excited to share it with audiences across the U.S. This is beyond 3D, beyond 70mm, it’s beyond anything you’ve seen before. The image leaps off the screen as bright and vibrant as life itself. This is the way all movies should be seen and without a doubt, Titanic has NEVER looked better.”
