“Transparent” is Ending With Musical Number After Season 5

Transparent won’t return to Amazon after Season 5, but it’s ending on a high note. The groundbreaking comedy series will conclude with a feature-length musical episode next fall.

A few months ago, head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke revealed Jill Soloway is working on something exciting for the final season. It turns out she wasn’t trying to oversell the show since an epic musical number sounds like the most perfect closure to this complex family drama.

The Soloway sisters and transgender performer Shakina Nayfack have already started working on the music for the two-hour long Transparent finale, and it sure sounds like one crazy ride.

“It will hopefully feel like Jesus Christ Superstar mixed with La La Land mixed with Flight of the Conchords with something more Jewish thrown in. A little Yentl,” explained Jill Soloway.

Transparent follows members of a Los Angeles family, whose past and future starts unraveling after a dramatic admission changes the course of their lives. The critically acclaimed show started airing in 2014 and received dozens of prestigious awards in the meantime – including a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical.
