The classic 1989 comedy feature starring Tom Hanks is getting a TV series treatment.

Multiple outlets confirm that Disney+ is developing Turner & Hooch for the small screen.

Little is known about the forthcoming Disney’s TV series treatment of the buddy cop comedy film, but according to Deadline, it is believed to be keeping the premise of the original movie, about a police detective and his dog.

Attached to write and executive produce the series is Burn Notice and The Gifted creator Matt Nix, who is under an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV (which is part of Disney TV Studios).

The film, directed by Roger Spottiswoode, and co-starred Mare Winningham, Reginald VelJohnson, Scott Paulin, J.C. Quinn, and Craig Nelson, was a box office hit, grossing $71 million on a $13 million budget.
