“Once Upon a Time” to end after season 7

The fairy tale drama will end its run after seven seasons.

ABC’s Once Upon a Time debuted in 2011 is currently in its seventh season, which will also be its last.

Just last month, ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey said she was “cautiously optimistic” about an 8th season happening. However, the network ended up pulling the plug.

For seven years, they have captivated us with their creativity and passion while re-imagining some of our most beloved Disney fairy tales, creating an undeniable global hit,” said Dungey in a statement. “Saying goodbye will be bittersweet, but Once Upon a Time will forever be part of the ABC legacy, and we can’t wait for fans to join us in this epic final chapter.”

Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis admitted that they are “a bit disappointed” but are definitely grateful for the seven season run.

Once Upon a Time will return for the second half of its final season on March 2 with the finale airing in May.
