“This Is Us” Makes Lyric Ross a Full-time Cast Member

This Is Us welcomes a new full-time cast member.

Lyric Ross has been promoted from recurring guest star to series regular in NBC’s hit series which means will get to see a lot more of Deja, the teenage girl Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) took in.

Ross appeared in half of Season’s two episodes and the season finale even saw her moving in full time with Randall and Beth.

Ross impressed both her co-stars and critics earning a Teen Choice Award nomination earlier this year for breakout TV star.

“She’s so nuanced,” Watson told EW. “I like that she doesn’t try to act it. She really does just speak and feel out a situation and sense a situation. And so it’s this beautiful, nuanced, soft performance that doesn’t feel performative…. She’s just a very special young actress.”

Another actress who was promoted to series regular is Melanie Liburd who plays Beth’s cousin — and Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) girlfriend in a flash-forward sequence.

The third Season of This Is Us premieres September 25.
