It’s finally time to meet Jack’s brother.
Michael Angarano has been tapped to play Jack Pearson’s brother Nicky. Angarano will join season three of NBC’s hit drama, This Is Us. The news was announced at the show’s FYC Emmys panel on Monday.
Variety confirms that Angarano will be a recurring character. While little has been revealed about the death of Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) brother, it is known that the two served together in Vietnam and that Nicky was killed in the war.
Season three is centered on Jack’s past, specifically his experience of fighting in the war.
“We are challenging ourselves in season three,” executive producer Issac Attacker said. ”Now that we’ve figured out that our audience is along for the ride…we’re kind of breaking all the rules. We’re challenging ourselves to jump to decades we’ve never been to before, and going to the future as we’ve seen a little bit, and really play with the storytelling format in a way that’s just much more complicated than we were able to in earlier seasons, when we were kind of showing people how the show worked.”
As Vietnam is central to the storyline of season three, the production tapped Tim O’Brien to consult and pen episodes alongside creator Dan Fogelman.
