Best known for her role as Kate Pearson, a third of oldest ‘big three’ sibling trio has landed her first leading role in a movie.
EW has confirmed that Chrizzy Metz has signed on to star in The Impossible. The Emmy nominee can now add to her credits, that include American Horror Story and My Name Is Earl, the lead role in the big screen adaptation of Joyce Smith’s faith-based book The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection.
The Impossible tells the story of Joyce and her teenage son John who makes an incredible recovery. John fell through the ice on a frozen lake in Missouri, and even though he had been lifeless for an hour at the hospital, his heart began beating again just as his mom turned to prayer and begged God to save her son.
Directing the film is Roxann Dawson, Grant Nieporte penned the script with DeVon Franklin serving as producer.
Production of The Impossible begins in March. You can see Metz next on stage, starring in a revival of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.
