“Venom” Sequel is Officially in the Works

Venom wasn’t the most critically acclaimed movie of 2018, but if you’re one of the people who loved it – we’ve got some good news for you. The sequel of this comic book flick is officially on its way.

Despite the fact it bombed with the critics, Venom did pretty well at the box office, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that Sony wants to bring it back. Kelly Marcel, who was one of the people in charge of writing the script for the first film, has been tapped by Sony to pen the sequel.

Tom Hardy played the titular character in the first film, and he’s expected to continue his adventure as Eddie Brock and his trusty shape-shifting symbiote in Venom 2. Fans are hoping Woody Harrelson will also appear in the role of Carnage, after making a cameo during mid-credits scene, but nothing is official just yet.

The bosses at Sony are hoping this follow-up will hit theaters by October 2020, two years after the first film in the series. The release date is yet to be confirmed, and it’s unclear if Ruben Fleischer will return to direct Venom sequel.
