Multiple outlets confirm that Viola Davis has joined Showtime’s First Ladies.
The How to Get Away With Murder is heading to the fictional White House having been cast to portray former First Lady Michelle Obama.
The series will delve into the personal and political lives of first ladies throughout history.
Per the official logline, “In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies.”
The first season will focus on Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Betty Ford, however, casting for Roosevelt and Ford has yet to be announced.
The drama is currently in development with a three-script commitment from the network with novelist Aaron Cooley penning the scripts.
