MGM finally unveiled the first trailer for its highly anticipated Aretha Franklin biopic.
Titled Respect, the Liesl Tommy-directed feature, stars Grammy and Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson as the Queen of Soul. And in case you missed it — Franklin handpicked Hudson for the role before her passing more than a year ago.
The minute-long teaser sees Hudson’s Franklin singing a verse from the title song nearly a cappella. “Much R.E.S.P.E.C.T to the queen of soul,” she tweeted alongside the teaser on Friday.
The film features a stellar cast who will star alongside Hudson including Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige.
