Watch Robert Downey Jr. in First “Dolittle” Trailer

Universal Pictures has finally dropped the first official trailer for its reimagining of the story of a man who could speak to animals.

Dolittle is inspired by the 1920s children’s book by Hugh Lofting, Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.

The clip features Robert Downey Jr. as the man who’s just not a people’s person. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film picks up seven years after Dolittle has lost his wife.

The trailer sees Dolittle setting sail with some furry friends, embarking on an expedition to save the Queen of England.

“We have no choice but to embark on this perilous journey,” Downey Jr. says in the trailer.

The film’s voice cast includes Tom Holland, Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Kumail Nanjiani, Octavia Spencer, John Cena, Rami Malek, Craig Robinson, Marion Cotillard, Frances de la Tour, and Carmen Ejogo.

Also starring are Antonio Banderas, Jim Broadbent, and Michael Sheen.

Dolittle hits theaters January 17, 2020.
