The first trailer for the highly-anticipated Portrait of a Lady on Fire is finally here giving us a first look at the unique love story.
The film which first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews is helmed by Céline Sciamma and stars Adèle Haenel and Noémie Merlant.
Per the official description of the film: “In 18th century France a young painter, Marianne (Merlant), is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse (Haenel) without her knowing. Therefore, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night. Day by day, the two women become closer as they share Héloïse’s last moments of freedom before the impending wedding.”
The film won the Queer Palm prize and was awarded Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival.
