With the sixth season of Younger premiering this week, stars of the show talk about what’s in store for their characters, and it looks that not everyone is content.
Season Five finale saw Charles (Peter Hermann) stepping down from his role as publisher at Empirical so he could be with Liza (Sutton Foster) as an official couple (finally!). But despite getting exactly what he wanted, the decision isn’t an easy one.
“There’s definitely tension,” says Foster. “Charles isn’t just at home in his PJs eating bonbons. He’s basically where Liza was in Season One, having nothing and trying to re-establish himself. He’s finding his way back in, but of course, that affects his relationship with Liza.”
“Charles gave up a significant piece of his identity when he left the company,” Hermann adds. “You’ll find out how willing or unwilling he is to let that piece of his identity go. Human beings and relationships are complicated… What he ends up pursuing and who he ends up pursuing it with will play out over the season.”
We are also to expect developments on the Diana (Miriam Shor) and Enzo (Chris Tardio) front. “Enzo is so sweet and lovable, but he’s not dumb; he gets Diana. I just love that someone accepts her on her own terms and calls her out, for sure.”
