“Wonder Woman 2”: Kristen Wiig confirmed to play villain Cheetah

Wonder Women director Patty Jenkins confirms there’s a new villain for the sequel.

Jenkins took to social media Friday morning to announce the news writing on Twitter: “So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!!”

Just last week speculations arose regarding Wiig’s involvement in the Wonder Women sequel.

The Saturday Night Live alum is set to play the villain, Cheetah, in Wonder Woman 2. Now for those casual comics enthusiasts, Cheetah is one of Diana’s most famous adversaries, that assumes a feline appearance, with the agility strength and claws to match.

While it is known that the film will take place in the 1980s against the backdrop of the Cold War, it is unknown what role in the plot line Wiig’s Cheetah will assume in the sequel.

Wonder Woman 2 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 1, 2019.
