The Met Gala is returning to New York in early May, and we finally know what to expect from it. Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya have been announced as the co-chairs of the upcoming Met Gala, with the theme “The Garden of Time”.

According to Vogue’s official announcement, this year’s co-chairs are meant to reflect a variety of career achievements, and all have distinct style histories with the Met Gala. Zendaya, Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Hemsworth will be joined by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

As for the theme, “The Garden of Time” has been chosen as this year’s dress code, and it’s meant to celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”. It features approximately 250 rare items spanning over 400 years of fashion history, some too fragile to ever be worn again.

The exhibition will use the elements of video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation to make these historical garments truly pop, and we’re expecting to see a lot of dreamy and whimsical looks on the red carpet.

The 2024 Met Gala will take place on May 6 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew serving as honorary chairs.
