“Zombieland” Sequel is Officially in the Works

Fans of Zombieland spent ten years waiting for the sequel to their favorite cult classic horror comedy. It seems they’re finally getting what they asked for! Sony Pictures announced follow up to this surprise hit and original cast is here for the ride.

Zombieland 2 will reunite Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin for the first time in years. They’ve been pretty busy over the course of the last decade and experienced success in their individual careers. Harrelson and Eisenberg even teamed up a couple of times, since they both starred in Now You See Me franchise.

According to the official synopsis, the sequel will take the group “from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors”. It will be released just in time for the original’s 10-year anniversary, in October 2019. According to Colombia Pictures president Sanford Panitch, the cast’s dedication to this project is the main reason it’s actually happening.

“This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail. These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters,” explained Panitch.
