All hell broke loose when Adele finally shared her comeback single “Easy on Me” with the world, and streaming numbers reflect its enormous success. This heart-shattering ballad broke Spotify and Amazon Music records for the most streams for a song in a single day.

Like many of the songs on Adele’s upcoming album 30, “Easy on Me” addresses the aftermath of her divorce. It’s been written as a plea to her son, asking him for forgiveness and understanding in the wake of her separation from his father.

“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him… who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal,” Adele previously told the British Vogue.

“Easy on Me” broke the all-time record for the most-streamed song in a single day on Spotify with 24 million global streams, in addition to earning more first-day global streams on Amazon Music than any other song in history.  It serves as the lead single from Adele’s upcoming fourth studio album 30, set to hit the shelves on November 19th.
