Channing Tatum gave us one of the most memorable projects of his career with the Magic Mike franchise, and he’s ready for a comeback. He’s set to return in Magic Mike’s Last Dance, which will reunite him with the director Steven Soderbergh.

Magic Mike was released in 2012, and it drew inspiration from Tatum’s own experiences working as a stripper before finding fame in Hollywood. Soderbergh directed the first movie, but only returned as editor and cinematographer for the sequel Magic Mike XXL.

The success of this franchise transcends the big screen and it spawned a successful stage experience, Magic Mike Live. It also served as the inspiration for the reality competition series Finding Magic Mike on HBO Max, with Tatum and Soderbergh serving as executive producers.

These projects have shown that the audience still has an appetite for the world of Magic Mike, and Soderbergh is looking forward to giving us another chapter of this story.

“As soon as I saw what Channing, [screenwriter] Reid [Carolin], and the Magic Mike choreographic team did with the live show, I said we have to make another movie. Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized,” said Soderbergh in an official statement.
